A slightly darker result can be attributed to several factors, including:
- the natural original color
- the presence of old stains
- the choice of color, in a context where standards have recently changed
- processing time or hair porosity
Don't worry:
The hair dye formula hasn't changed, and this kind of situation is usually temporary.

The next time you color your hair, you can:
- Choose a slightly lighter shade
- The next time you color your hair, choose a lighter shade. If your ends are already colored and dark, we recommend that you avoid reapplying the color to the entire length of your hair. This can make the color darker again and weigh down the ends.

The new hair-coloring kits differ from the old ones mainly in terms of post-coloring care.
In fact, your hair color remains the same to ensure you get the Eugène Color quality; we’ve simply renamed the shades so they correspond to the professional numbering system.
You can refer to the color guide if you want to find your exact shade with confidence.
However, you’ll find a brand-new post-color treatment in your kit. With a larger size (25 ml compared to 15 ml for your previous treatment), it was developed by our own laboratory to ensure better conditioning, shine, and repair depending on the shade.
Yes, we recommend that you do this before each hair coloring treatment. You’ll find detailed application instructions in the package insert, as described below:
The allergy alert test must be performed 48 hours before each use of the product, even if you have used a hair color product before. This test is an important precautionary measure that has proven reliable when performed under the conditions described. However, please be aware that even if an allergy test has been performed, you may still experience an allergic reaction when coloring your hair. The allergy test does not guarantee that allergic reactions will not occur in the future. If you have any doubts or questions, please consult a doctor.
Items you’ll need to prepare the mixture: a cotton swab, clean cloths, and a non-metallic container. Prepare the mixture. Using a cotton swab, mix small amounts of color cream and developer—in equal parts—in a container. Do not use any metal objects. Make sure to reseal both products tightly. Using the cotton swab, apply a pea-sized amount of the mixture evenly in a thin layer to a 2-cm-by-2-cm area on the inner side of your forearm. Leave the mixture on for 45 minutes without covering or touching it; avoid contact with clothing; after 45 minutes, wash the test area with water and dry it with a clean cloth. If you notice any changes from the skin’s normal appearance—such as itching, redness, or swelling on or around the test area—during the application period or within the following 48 hours, you should immediately rinse the test area, discontinue use of the product, and consult a doctor.
The test should therefore be performed on the mixture of developer and cream, which is prepared in a non-metallic container using equal amounts of each component.
During hot weather, it is recommended that you apply your hair color as usual, but be sure to reduce the processing time.
In fact, heat will speed up the setting process on the hair, so we recommend cutting the processing time listed in the instructions in half, otherwise you may end up with a darker result than desired.
